Top Trends Shaping the Future of Cloud
Gartner has announced the top trends shaping the future of cloud adoption over the next four years.
The global adoption of in-car wireless smartphone charging grew by 6% points, rising from 48% in 2023 to 54% in 2024, surpassing a 50% sales penetration rate worldwide, according to Counterpoint Research. Regionally, the US is the largest market for wireless charging, followed by China and Europe.
Once exclusive to premium vehicles, in-car wireless charging is rapidly becoming a standard convenience feature across all vehicle segments. This technology eliminates the need for various charging cables, contributing to a cleaner and more organized cockpit. Additionally, many in-car wireless chargers now support multiple devices, including smartphones, TWS earbuds, and smartwatches, enhancing the overall connected and user-focused experience.
The introduction of the Qi 2 wireless charging standard, which offers a more reliable and efficient charging experience, combined with the ongoing “premiumization” of smartphones, is expected to further drive adoption. In addition, the Qi wireless charging standard continues to evolve, with the Wireless Power Consortium announcing Qi 2.1 at CES 2025. As wireless charging becomes more common in smartphones, the demand for in-car wireless chargers is also set to rise.
